Recruiting Operations

I began my career in the industry working as a recruiter and project manager for a recruiting franchise in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. When I was hired by the corporate office of the company, I moved to Cleveland, OH in 2001. Over the past decade, I've held a variety of roles in Training and Development, Communications and Recruiting Operations. Described by others as expressive, direct and high spirited, I now works directly with the Chief of Talent Operations at Job.com and support the evolution of a recruiter-enabled technology company. I earned a bachelor’s degree in English with an emphasis in Secondary Education from the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

Get to Know Me Q&A

What’s the one book or movie that has profoundly impacted your professional outlook and why?

Awake at Work by Michael Carroll. Using time honored teachings, the author helped open my eyes to a different way of seeing, navigating, experiencing and learning from challenges in my professional life. Which fits into the bigger of picture of how we all see ourselves and how we see the world.

What’s your favorite way to unwind after a challenging day?

Depends on the day: could be revisiting a section of the aforementioned book, Awake at Work, could be a walk/run, could be taking a nap, could be seeing a friend or it could be mindlessly playing a game on my phone with a some kind of sports event on in the background.

How do you stay motivated and inspired in your work?

The people I work with are not only talented, engaging, and smart but also collaborative, funny, and inspiring. Regarding the person who leads us...I think it might be impossible to not feel your spirit lifted after a meeting, or even just a conversation, with him. And that is a gift not to be taken for granted.

What are some notable clients or brands you are proud of working with in your career?

"The race is not always to the swift, but to those who keep on running."

What’s one piece of advice you’ve received that has shaped your career?

Be nice and play fair.

What does teamwork mean to you, and can you share a memorable experience working with your team?

One way to look at teamwork is a balance between each individual knowing their role / strengths AND sharing a collective willingness to dive for a loose ball whenever it is needed. Finding the sweet spots between "that's not my job" and "I am going to do everyone else's job" at the right time. On a recent project we were not getting good results and needed to quickly determine what we could adjust and then, even more quickly, execute those changes. Three of us collaborated, made decisions, and executed the moving parts within 24 hours. For this particular situation, just feels so good to work next to people who never think in terms of "that isn't my job"or "I shouldn't be doing that". Together we just figured it out. There weWe just figured it outTogether we worked through what tasks made the most sense for each of us to complete and asked for input and insight when needed.

What’s an unexpected skill or talent you possess?

I seem to have a voice that people can hear from very long distances.

If you could have dinner with anyone, living or deceased, who would it be and why?

My Mom and Dad. They passed away several years ago and no matter how much time goes by, I still wish we could share one more meal together.
