Job Description
  1. Primary Function


The Development Manager is the link between the Land Acquisition and Development. He or she will assist in the overall management and successful completion of a project in a timely and cost-effective manner, taking pride in delivering projects at a high standard of quality, on time and on budget.  This position reports directly to the Director of Development.

  1. Typical Duties and Responsibilities


  • Manages the due diligence process on land opportunities and develops documentation and recommendations on key items that may affect the return and financial performance of the proposed deal.
  • Take charge of the “Green folder” process ensuring that the Division completes all due diligence and internal approval items within a timeframe that meets third party seller’s contractual requirements.
  • Draft concise and accurate explanations of due diligence reports, strategies and risk for executive level associates.
  • Act as liaison between Land Acquisition and Development to close on property.
  • Prepares investment memorandums providing insight on the proposed projects for submission to finance including detailed extra costs and pursuit cost budgets.
  • Completes various financial, and other reports and analysis, and performs other duties as assigned or as necessary.
  • Supports the negotiation of sale and purchase agreements for projects in acquisition.
  • Maintains on-going communications with the executive team, equity partners, and other key business leaders affiliated with the project to provide periodic updates on the progress against schedule and budgets, surfaces and resolves issues that may compromise the project delivery schedule or costs, and responds quickly and with urgency to questions, concerns, and requests for information.
  • Facilitate processes required for due diligence for the purchase of property.
  • Monitor potential land acquisition close and update due diligence accordingly.
  • Manage due diligence updating of pipeline and future opportunity reports for each submarket within the region.
  • Work along with the team to maintain documents electronic databases on a platform.
  • Ensures that project procedures are consistent with corporate philosophy.
  • Performs additional assignments per project’s director’s direction.

Ill.        Qualifications and Experience

  • A background in development management is required. Additional expertise in the fields of architecture and/or engineering desired.
  • Minimum 10 years’ industry experience.







lV.  Knowledge and Skills


  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, or Business Administration is required.
  • Minimum five years’ experience supporting Land Development Department and Executive level Associates preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards, plans, plus an in-depth understanding of the interdependence of project areas.
  • Ability to develop Action Programs and perform according to agreed plans with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both oral and written) are a must.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive/confidential information.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, MS Project and AutoCAD. Revit / Navisworks, Microsoft Projects desired.
