All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status.”Recognizes different specimen types and prepares and processes accordingly.Applies a basic level of knowledge of methods and clinical relevance in all areas of responsibility.Performs all preventive maintenance on schedule in accordance with laboratory procedure.Recognizes different types of tissue and adjust embedding and cutting accordingly.Documents all maintenance and troubleshooting information completely and accurately on preventive maintenance sheets.Monitors reagent and supply inventory and informs supervisor of needs.Ability to prepare reagents from procedure manual.Does not loose composure or make mistakes when processing a high volume of work.Organizes work well so others can easily work with them and take over for them in their absence.Performs all safety procedures with each function.Correctly interprets quality control slides for proper reactivity.Follows all procedures accurately.Assists Pathologists when necessary.Verifies and processes specimens in and organized and timely fashion.Performs basic troubleshooting procedures and seeks assistance when necessaryUnderstands and performs Hazardous Waste Materials procedures Degree in Medical Technology or related field. NYS Education Department Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or Eligible Professional accreditation preferred Knowledge and experience in all aspects of Histology Basic knowledge of computer fundamentals and experience with laboratory information systems. Technical skills necessary to operate, maintain and troubleshoot Histology equipment. Effectively communicates detailed information and procedures.
