Legal Collection Representative

Were looking to fill a ground-level, Legal Collection position.

Youll be working in a small office environment and will be responsible for recovering money owed to our clients, attending court hearings, and serve as a point of contact.
Since were a third-party collection agency, previous experience with collections, auto deficiency, the small claims process, or Spanish fluency will send you to the front of the line. This is a full-time position (Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm), and were offering $18-$20 per hour (depending on your skills or experience), with many opportunities to earn commissions on the debts you recover, the skys is the limit!
Employment is contingent on passing a background check & drug screening.
Job Description:
- Make outbound calls to and handle inbound calls from consumers.
- Negotiate repayment plans and meet monthly budget goals.
- Provide clear and concise information to consumers and have exceptional follow up skills.
- Effectively manage assigned accounts and complete daily work goals.
- Utilize skip-tracing tools to locate consumers and initiate first contact with consumers.
- Organize and work with confidential files, detailed records, maintain forms, and respond to correspondence.
- Proficiently use a computer to enter, access and retrieve data.
- (After training) you should have a solid understanding of the Oregon small claims policies and procedures, prepare and track legal documents, handle court mediations or challenges to garnishments, and respond to misc. court requests.
- Must pass our FDCPA knowledge test and other federal or state testing requirements. (will train)
- Communicate with clients, court clerks, process servers, and other vendors as needed.
- Perform basic office duties, such as: faxing, copying, printing, etc.
- Other duties as assigned; light lifting (under 25 pounds) may occasionally be required.
- Must adhere to strict collection policies and procedures.
Job Qualifications:
- Regular attendance and punctuality expected.
- Reliable transportation, with valid drivers license and vehicle insurance.
- Attention to details, organizational skills, time management, and critical thinking are necessary.
- Comfortable operating a computer, working at a desk, and typing 40 WPM.
- Proficient in using data bases, spreadsheets, forms, and email (MS Office and Outlook experience preferred).
- Communication skills with emphasis on remaining calm.
- Strong problem-solving skills, and an interest in navigating complex situations.
- Ability to work well under stressful situations, or with frustrated consumers.
- Self-motivation is a must but working as a team is often necessary.
- Adaptable to change, challenges, and new experiences.
Required Experience:
- Third Party collection or Legal collection experience needed, but were willing to train a self-starting candidate. Bilingual or Spanish speaking skills a plus.
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Required qualifications:
- 18 years or older
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- At least high school diploma or equivalent or higher
