HCA Houston Healthcare West - Houston, TX Licensed Vocational Nurse - Emergency Room HCA Houston Healthcare West is a full-service 266 bed hospital that provides a range of health services. It is recognized as a Certified Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission and, under an affiliation agreement with The Woman's Hospital of Texas, brings to its community The Woman's Hospital of Texas at West Houston, a three-story cardiac and critical care tower. The Sugar Land Cancer Center and the Sugar Land Diagnostic Center, departments with HCA Houston Healthcare West, are located on the Southwest Freeway at the Williams Trace and Sugar Lakes exit. HCA Houston Healthcare West is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center. What you will do in this role: Responsible for knowing and complying with the rules and regulations relating to the education, licensure and practice of the licensed vocational nurse as set forth in the Nurse Practice Act, Texas Occupations Code and/or other statutes and regulations relating to the practice of licensed vocational nurses. Provides care and treatment that reflects appropriate infection control techniques and universal precautions. Accurately documents in the patient's record a description of the nursing care provided. Administers medication in a safe, knowledgeable and accurate manner. Assists the physician with examinations, tests and procedures. Carries out physician orders in a safe and appropriate manner. Completes and demonstrates proficiency with unit based clinical and age-appropriate nursing competencies. Complies with applicable hospital policy/procedure. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: Provides general nursing care to assigned patients. Ethics and Compliance: Demonstrates ethical and compliant behaviors as outlined in Performance Management Plan and Code of Conduct. Serves as a role model of behavior that complies with the hospital's mission and code of conduct.Actively participates in the hospital's ethic and compliance program. Follows laws, regulations, and hospital policy as it relates to controlled substances. Demonstrates compliance with Dept. specific competencies Monitors and observes the patient and accurately records changes in condition and reaction to medications and treatment. Notifies appropriate individuals of changes in condition and utilizes the established chain of command when necessary. Participates in hospital performance improvement activities to improve safety and patient outcomes. Participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for assigned patients, including patient/family education and discharge planning. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Promotes an atmosphere of collaboration and teamwork by exhibiting professional behavior that demonstrates a commitment to the provision of quality patient care and support of a professional working environment. Respects the patient's privacy and maintains confidentiality of health care and other information. Respects the rights of patients to include their cultural, psychosocial, and spiritual values. Supports the vision, mission and values of the hospital. What qualification you will need: Graduation from an accredited LVN program required. Current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of Texas is required. Six months of experience preferred but new graduates will be considered. American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification preferred CPI certification required New hires must obtain CPI certification within (6) months from hire date.
