Job Description Purpose: This position is the primary liaison between our 3rd party taxing authorities, Ceridian Dayforce, and Internal customers. This person will be responsible for the financial analysis of all payroll tax data using our payroll system Ceridian Dayforce and how it feeds over to the General Ledger (Lawson). Ensuring we stay in compliance and follow all applicable policies. This individual will also be responsible for assisting with adjusting data to the general ledger in Ceridian Dayforce received from Finance/Accounting. In addition, the position will require learning payroll processing and act as the back up to Lead Payroll Analyst. This position will be required to work on projects from start to finish per management's request. Responsibilities: * Responsible for ensuring that all federal, state, or local tax returns and related statements or records are validated and correct by reconciling all balances. This would include W2's and any required filings. * Research, interprets, and understands existing or revised tax codes, laws, or forms, and suggests responses to changes in tax law, regulations, and guidelines. Maintains current knowledge of payroll tax laws and ensures compliance with federal and state guidelines and resolves any compliance issues with taxing authorities. * Answers all related payroll tax questions/email inquiries, and researches discrepancies. * Reconciles and analyzes general ledger transactions for the Finance/Accounting Department when needed. Maintain on-going meetings with Finance/Accounting department related to payroll discrepancies. * Responsible for projects as requested by Senior Management. * Validates reports and works with payroll provider and HRIS to ensure all information is captured. * Responsible for daily monitoring of agency notices and other tax related requests and correspondence. This includes updates made to SUI rates and other company specific setups. * Sets up new agency state(s)/local(s) registrations when needed and maintains relationships based on employee demographics data. * Provide Monthly/Quarterly/Annual reconciliations and analysis of filings (Includes W2's, 940, 941's) * Continually identify processes and system improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness. * Coordinate new account coding/mapping in payroll system. * Ensure accuracy of system integration files. * Assists in transmitting payroll files for processing, and reconciling payroll reports. * Runs AdHoc Reports as needed. * Ensures that mandatory and voluntary withholdings and deductions are accurately calculated and reported for employee population. * Maintains payroll related files and records including all tax filings and payments. Requirements: * Bachelors' Degree in Accounting required. * 3 - 5 years' experience processing payroll and working with the general ledger. * 5+ years of payroll tax experience. * Bachelors' Degree in Accounting required. * 3 - 5 years' experience processing payroll and working with the general ledger. * 5+ years of payroll tax experience. * Payroll procedures and techniques. * Knowledge of Federal and multi-state laws, and regulations related to payroll * Keen knowledge of multi-state and local payroll taxes. * Knowledge of filing quarterly 941's, annual 940, payroll state income taxes, and state unemployment taxes. * MS Office 365, utilize outlook calendar, setup outlook meetings, use MS Teams. * Excel Mastery required of creating advance spreadsheets. * Excel knowledge of creating pivot tables and formulas: VLOOKUPS, Index Match, creating macros, preferably VBA Excel coding. * Knowledge of Power BI is a plus. * Proactive. * Self-Starter. * Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects while meeting deadlines. * Ability to work independently and within the team. * Maintain Follow-Up with management. * Analytical Thinking Skills required. * Member of the American Payroll Association preferred. * FPC/CPP preferred. * Detail-oriented with strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy. * Excellent time management to meet deadlines, and quality service fundamentals. Works independently, payroll calculation problem solving skills, and ability to be flexible to attend meetings, and setup meeting with our accounting team. Works well under pressure and able to handle additional tasks assigned by management. * Performs work under minimal supervision. * Handles complex issues, problems, and payroll calculations. * Possesses comprehensive knowledge as the subject matter expert.
