Position Description The Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor provides counseling services to clients and conducts group counseling, along with individual client meetings. The incumbent prepares treatment plans based on initial assessment of client needs and creates case notes to document sessions. They are responsible for progress reports, monthly summaries and discharge summaries. Duties and Responsibilities: * Conducts group counseling sessions with clients. * Communicates key information with Community Supervision Officers. * Tracks compliance with drug and alcohol testing. * Participates in staffing case with supervisors, peers, and the courts. * Maintains appropriate entries in the electronic systems. * Operates office equipment, computers, phones, etc., necessary for the work. * Completes documentation of daily work activities in relevant databases. * Provides case consultation to Community Supervision Officers regarding clients with mental illness and/or substance abuse problems. * Monitors deadlines to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance with policy, grant standards, funding and licensure requirements, special conditions of community supervision, and Community Justice Assistance Division (CJAD) general and substance abuse standards. * Participates in work groups as necessary. * Provides group instruction to clients. * Contributes to and helps create a positive work atmosphere. Requirements Education: * Bachelor's Degree in a Psychological or Social Work fieldfrom an accredited college or university Licensure: * Must be a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) * Must have a valid Texas Class C Automobile Operator's License and must be insurable under the Department's automobile insurance program Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Must meet the minimum requirements for access to Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) information Applicants for this position will be subject to a criminal background check that includes being fingerprinted. This applies to any position with network access to Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) or access to an area where CJIS is received, maintained or stored either manually or electronically (i.e. custodian, maintenance). Position Type and Typical Hours of Work: * Regular Full-Time, 40 hours per week * 5 days per week, 8 hours per day * 8:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. OR12:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. * Work overtime as required Salary: * $3,806.40 - $4,413.07 /Monthly * $21.96 -$25.46 /Hourly * Commensurate with experience * Based on 26 Pay Periods WorkEnvironment: * While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting.
