Quality Control Inspector


Job Description
Role Summary: The Quality Control Inspector will examine products and materials for defect or deviation from manufacturer's specifications and be accountable for executing the quality programs established by the manufacturing facility. Accountabilities: Periodically Travel to PerfectVision distribution center facilities to perform quality audits on products Perform inspections of incoming product, in-process components and finished products according to established standards and drawings. Read and understand blueprints and specifications Monitor or observe operations to ensure that they meet production standards Report any quality issues to supervisor in a timely manner so corrective action can be taken Recommend adjustments to the process or assembly Assist manufacturing and service departments in troubleshooting quality defects Inspect, test, or measure materials or products being produced Measure products with rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers Accept or reject finished items Remove all products and materials that fail to meet specifications Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products Report inspection and test data Travel to Manufacturing partners to review and approve new and existing suppliers, audit their performance, and perform quality inspections on the products Ensure that purchased, manufactured and kitted products meet quality standards required for their intended use Partner with Quality, Production Supervisors, Plant Mangers, and Engineering to drive root cause of quality related issues in production and shipping Write Corrective Actions and Preventative Actions to prevent reoccurrence Assist in customer complaint and non-conformance investigations related to Manufacturing, Production and Quality Departments Work with suppliers to complete Corrective Actions as necessary Facilitate batch / lot record keeping, and perform periodic audits Focus on Continuous Improvement with assigned projects to meet specified goals Collaborate with Engineering and Fabrication Teams to effectively improve the overall quality of the final products Inspect the final output, compare it to the requirements, and approve or reject the final products Calibrate, validate, and maintain inspection equipment as needed Requirements: Up to 75% Travel (30-50% Average) Quality auditing experience CWI Certification will have preference Must be able to read blueprints, micrometers, calipers, gages, etc. Quality experience preferred such as working with established QMS systems Knowledge of Quality Standards (e.g., ISO) is an asset Strong focus on Quality and Customer Service High Level of Integrity and personal responsibility Strong collaboration skills in a team environment Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail in documentation and record keeping is required Knowledge of Dynamics GP Manufacturing is an asset Familiarity with Quality Tools and Methods required, (e.g. RCA, CAPA, SPC, DMAIC, PDCA, etc.) Experience working within a steel manufacturing environment is an asset Strong problem-solving skills (quick, creative, and proactive) Ability to work under pressure and within tight time constraints Ability to work alongside and with your peers to achieve goals set forth by management Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products including Excel, Word and Outlook
