Job Description Commercial Operations Analysis ManagerThe Commercial Operations Analysis Manager role will champion a variety of technology and process improvement projects, providing guidance and business requirements, as well as recommending solutions, perform testing, verify and analyze relevant data, and take active part in implementing projects in production environments, train personnel, as well as triage issues on any and all initial implementations, and subsequently identify enhancements, as necessary, until full transition.This role is also expected to provide material contributions by: Championing and/or assisting Commercial Operations in the research, development and implementation of standard procedures, processes, and ISO market enhancements, including all related technology platforms and documentation necessary, as well as maintaining and observing nuances or gaps with existing or newly implemented process improvements, and communicating results of observations in a timely, organized, and coordinated manner; Suggesting, developing, and/or implementing process or system improvements affecting real-time operations or any facet of Commercial Operations, including potential issues related to NERC or ISO rules and compliance obligations for any region, as assigned; Performing monthly or ad-hoc analytical or operational requirements for Commercial Operations. Managing and preparing recurring reports and/or analysis as defined by Real-Time Operations management team Solving operational and tactical problems for any region (East, West or ERCOT) in collaboration with Real Time Managers, as needed;From time to time, this role is expected to  Perform Day-Ahead scheduling as necessary on weekends, as assigned; Act as Generation Coordinator or Real Time Manager with all relevant activities in instances of absence, emergency or resource constraints.; Assist other RT Managers or Generation Coordinators in completing bidding and scheduling activities in their respective ISO markets, including but not limited to unit testing and filings, outage management, and other ISO requirements, as needed. Provide additional operational capabilities or assistance on routine tasks during peak operational periods due to human resource constraints or operational challenges when unit trips, or system is on an emergency alert, high load days, periods of high activity, etc.; Other duties will be assigned, as necessary. Requirements  Team player who can a.) collaborate with various teams and all levels of management within the Commercial Power Operations or other organizations for process improvements and troubleshooting, b.) work on and complete projects autonomously, as directed and requested, c.) effectively communicate with the ISO and Calpine Operators, and d.) make necessary tactical decisions in the absence of the Real Time Manager within bounds of established policies and procedures and acceptable industry practices. Seasoned Professional with at least 10 + years experience in the energy sector related to Commercial Operations, and/or power plant operations; Advanced/full knowledge in electrical generating plants' economics and maintenance, trading power in the hourly market, and resource optimization Solid, working knowledge and competency in any one, some or all ISO (i.e. CAISO, PJM, ERCOT, NYISO, ISO-NE, MISO) operations and market rules, including but not limited to day-ahead commitment/schedule implications, resource dispatching, NERC-tagging, outage scheduling and reporting, compliance, 24-hour real-time operations and best practices NERC-Certified System Operator and PJM System Operator a plus A Bachelor degree or equivalent, preferably in engineering, computational sciences, accounting, economics, finance, behavioral sciences, or equivalent relevant experience. MBA a plus This role is deemed an essential worker and may be required to work at alternative work locations and alternative times in order to meet the company's dispatch needs.Ideal candidate will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.
