Job Description

SUMMARY

Under general supervisor, provide exemplary customer service to patrons by assisting them with various information-gathering and technology use, in addition to performing various library duties, such as working at the circulation desk and reference desk, registering new library cardholders, announcing new library materials to the public, assisting in the search of library materials, adeptly using and exploring library tools, while staying above the learning curve of new information and technology trends.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of clerical experience including experience in a library.

Must be able to type 25 cwpm and have the ability to operate Microsoft Word software and comparable library software.

Must be able to work evenings and weekend hours.

Typing and written Civil Service Examination may be required.

This position is represented by the Service Employee International Union.

This position requires the successful passing of a background check and drug screening.
