The Role Loom is looking for engineers to propel the next iteration of our creation and collaboration tools forward. As a company, we are looking to accelerate information flow between every member of the global workforce. Be it making Loom's video creation tools faster or more delightful, or surfacing the right content in a shared team library to the right audience, you will be building the base of how Loom functions as a workplace communication tool. * We are currently hiring remotely in the United States and Canada Responsibilities You will build a beautiful, snappy, and native-feeling UI experiences across all of our product teams from video creation to enterprise You will optimize and set new standards for application-level tooling to measure product stability and speed You will build product features end-to-end: through conception, exploration, iteration, maintenance, and polish You will own the products that you build and become the domain expert on those subjects within the organization You will collaborate with Product, Design, and Infrastructure to architect features and break down high-level goals into tasks and timelines You will design tools and frameworks that empower other developers You will help with interviewing other talented engineers that want to join Loom What We're Looking For 6+ years of professional JavaScript experience 2+ years of ReactJS (or similar) experience Passion for productivity tools and supporting power users Great design intuition and user empathy Passion for UI fluidity and performance Ability to readily learn most technologies on-the-go Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment with a high degree of autonomy Not required but a plus Experience with implementing GraphQL in production environments Experience with implementing one of the following: Online video editing suites Architecting and implementing of billing/payments infrastructure Content recommendation engines Video streaming infrastructure with HLS Fluency with Typescript 2+ years spent as a Sr Engineer or Tech Lead Experience working in a start-up or similar fast-paced environment How We Work Freedom and Flexibility: At Loom, we believe work is an act, not a place. Loom makes it easier for us to say what we mean without having to schedule a zoom meeting or struggle to find the right words. And using async communication allows us to free up time for deep work every day. We believe there's a place for sync time - often a conversation on Zoom is exactly what is needed. For team meetings, this 'sync time' is typically between 9AM-Noon PT given where the overlap of timezones where Loommates are located.Work-Rest Balance: The way we balance the fast-paced demands of a high-growth startup and sustainability is making rest a priority. We offer a flexible PTO policy so you're able to take time off when you need it. We also go fully offline once a year between Christmas and New Year (and twice during the Pandemic). Rest is also part of the workday, not just during PTO.
