Overview This position is responsible for the completion of all North America and additional jurisdictional income tax filing obligations and relatedfinancial statement support. Responsibilities Responsibilities: Play an integral role in maintaining a highly responsive and technically sound tax organization that interfaces across the organization to support key business initiatives. Develop, mentor and recruit individuals to the tax department as necessary. Oversee all tax related matters including tax compliance, tax accounting and financial reporting, tax planning, indirect taxes, forecasting, support for acquisitions, tax planning and tax strategy and ensure compliance with applicable U.S. tax code and regulation. Provide oversight for the coordination of compliance for the annual preparation of all U.S. and State tax returns for all corporate and partnership entities. Manage all Federal, state and foreign income tax examinations. Provide supervision and guidance to indirect tax manager for all state sales and use and property tax audits. Manage all tax compliance related functions for global jurisdictions, while working closely with 3rd party service providers and/or internal colleagues residing in the applicable countries. Manage and supervise all aspects related to quarterly and annual financial reporting for income tax in accordance with ASC 740 including FIN 48 (ASC 740-10) Ensure the completion of relevant transfer pricing reporting including country-by-country obligations, as well as, master and local country file reporting. Record relevant general ledger entries with respect to transfer pricing transactions including related party interest, management fees and trademark royalties. Oversee tax reporting related risk, including development, maintenance and compliance with internal control requirements Work closely with Business Affairs and Legal team on corporate governance matters. Manage third party tax provider and consultant relationships Oversee the preparation of income and indirect tax projections/forecasts and coordination with other functional areas Provide subject matter advice to executives, finance and other functional areas on tax reporting issues and activities Coordinate and perform tax research and planning activities to optimize taxes and the effective tax rate, and enhance cash flow and develop and implement effective long-term tax strategies in full compliance with regulations. Ensure the tax requirements for tax reporting are appropriately addressed in ongoing financial systems and investment system implementations Monitor potential business domestic and foreign ventures to provide input for most advantageous structure for tax purposes Drive a continuous focus on process improvement initiatives in all areas of tax Prepare, review and/or present periodic presentations to audit committee, senior executives, and management at all levels of key tax issue developments with a focus towards cash minimization and risk management Work closely with franchise licensing team to ensure proper withholding tax rates and where applicable and required, obtain the necessary residency certificates to guarantee treaty withholding tax rates. Maintain proper proof of withholding tax through foreign certificates. Non-Essential Functions: Coordinate operations between departments. Utilize programs designed to help Save the Planet Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting/Tax/Finance with advanced Masters degree preferred CPA Designation A minimum of 10 years of relevant tax experience Thorough understanding of federal and state income tax laws and indirect taxes. Expertise in inbound tax matters, including corporate structure, transfer pricing, withholding and financing issues. Experience in a large multi-national corporation handling IRS audits of multiple legal entities Ability to articulate the companys tax positions and to favorably negotiate their ultimate settlement Working knowledge of ASC740 and U.S. GAAP Excellent communication, presentation, and management skills are required Microsoft Office proficiency Additional Details Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; and taste or smell.
