Our Infection Preventionist will: * Under minimal supervision and according to established guidelines, will conduct surveillance activities as outlined in the organizational Infection Prevention and Control Plan and identify and report hospital acquired infections mandated by regulatory agencies as well as reportable diseases and conditions. * Participate in educational programs as well as provide consultative services to all levels of the organization regarding infection prevention and control standards and practices and analyze and trend data collected to assist in planning initiatives that are compatible with organizational needs. * Provide staff education and implementation of Infection and Prevention and Control strategies and initiatives * Partner with an interdisciplinary team including, but not limited to, attending physicians, registered nurses (RN), and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction. * Monitor staff compliance with infection practices mandated by regulatory, accrediting, and licensing agencies * Will have knowledge of departmental policies, regulatory requirements, such as, State Education Department, Department of Health, OSHA, and NHSN definitions. What you'll bring: * Passion for Infection Prevention * 2-3+ Years of acute care clinical RN experience * 1+ Years of experience working with Infection Prevention and/or Public Health preferred Willing to train the right candidate * Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing * Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required * Licensure: New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration * Certification: Infection Control Certification (CIC) preferred * Strong interpersonal skills * Skilled in MS Office St. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center is New York State's only specialty designated cardiac center.
