The Fish and Wildlife Service Experienced Services Program was established to
create a unique partnership to help solve the workforce issues facing government
agencies. The Fish and Wildlife ESP connects experienced workers (age 55+) to
the Fish and Wildlife Service to provide scientific, technical, and
administrative services in support of the Fish and Wildlife Service priority
multiple-use related programs and authorities. The experienced workers
participating in the Program are referred to as Enrollees and are not employees
of FWS or National Experienced Workforce Solutions ( NEW Solutions). NEW
Solutions is the ESP Non-governmental organization (NGO) responsible for
administrative aspects of the Program, and the Enrollees work under Fish and
Wildlife Service direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out the Fish
and Wildlife Service mission. Fish and Wildlife Service ESP Enrollees benefit
from the opportunity to keep technical skills current, to access new training
opportunities, to engage in gainful project-based positions, and to undertake
meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the
environment, the national economy and their own financial security. Background
security investigation may be required prior to start date. Location, hours and
hourly pay are noted in this position description. FWS ESP positions are meant
to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded
for an estimate of 256 total hours; 32 hours per week for estimated 8 weeks
(this is subject to change based on budget and other factors). This position
will be performed onsite at the office location in Bethel, AK. Bethel Alaska is
400 miles by plane from nearest major city. Looking for an Administrative
Specialist to work during the summer months. During the summer, Bethel has 20
hours of daylight and 4 hours of twilight. Housing provided: Private room in a
shared house.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in Minimum of 5 years of experience in office
administration OR HS/GED Degree in No specific degree required.
Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS
SharePoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook

Physical Requirements:
Most work done in an indoor office setting. Some standing, lifting, and
bending required. Ability to lift 50 lbs. required.
Duties:
The enrollee will provide office automation and clerical support duties for the
supervisor and the staff of the Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge.
Office support: File correspondence, reports, and records. Locate and
assemble materials when requested by refuge staff. Make travel arrangements,
review time accounting records, obtain office supplies, collect mail from Post
Office, perform copying and faxing when necessary, compile and maintain
working/reference aids or records, maintain status records of
assignments. 33%
Correspondence: Review incoming correspondence, reports, and work requests
to determine suspense requirements and proper routing. Operate suspense system
to monitor and control timely input and completion. Report problems of meeting
suspense requirements and request extensions or advise of delays. 33%
Reception: Serve as point of contact for visitors and telephone callers.
Refer visitor/caller to requested person or function or determines the person
appropriate to handle the contact. 34%
Other:
Travel Requirements: Local travel between Bethel quarters and the refuge
headquarters
Government Vehicle Training: Enrollee may use GOV or POV for trips to the
Post Office and around the refuge. Defensive Driving Course required.
Required Safety Gear: Closed-toe shoes, hard hat when required, safety
glasses, gloves, and respirators when required.
