Childcare Teacher (VCDC McCandless) $2,000 SIGN-ON BONUSVincentian Child Discovery Center McCandless, Pittsburgh, PA USSalary Range:Up to $17.15 per hour (commensurate with education and experience)About This Role: As a Childcare Teacher, you are a storyteller, encourager, confidant, play companion, classroom helper, rules enforcer, and, yes, teacher, all mixed into one - and that's just before nap time!The Childcare Teacher assists with the planning, development, and implementation of all activities that make up the daily lives of the children we serve at Vincentian Child Discovery Center. This includes the care, hygiene, learning, development, specialized programming and sanctioned discipline of the children. You'll also help maintain records and keep the classroom orderly, safe and clean for all.About You (Education and Experience):A Childcare Teacher at Vincentian must meet one or more of the following minimum requirements:Regional accredited ECE focused ASB OR ASTAA/AS in ECEAA/AS/BA/BS in related field with 18 ECE creditsAA/AS/BA/BS in an unrelated field with 30 ECE creditsElementary Ed Degree with 12 ECE creditsAbout Vincentian: Vincentian is a non-profit, mission-driven organization that has served Pittsburghers of all ages for nearly 100 years. People are at the center of everything we do.The DetailsAt Vincentian, we expect all of our team members to: Commit to the Vincentian mission to nurture and sustain a ministry of compassionate care that preserves the human dignity of persons within a diverse and changing society.Uphold and promote the Vincentian values of spirituality, compassion, quality, dignity, collaboration, advocacy, stewardship, and innovation.Promote and support a person-centered care environment that ensures the treatment of all we encounter at work with kindness, respect, and dignity.As a Childcare Teacher, you will:Assist in providing a quality curriculum, taking into consideration the needs of each child and family, as well as the goals, objectives, and philosophy of Vincentian Child Discovery Center.Maintain the safety of the children, including implementing emergency procedures, as necessary.Administer first aid and/or medication to children as may be required for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs.Provide new children and families the necessary information to ensure a comfortable transition into our environment.Help new employees understand our operations and regulations.Model positive reinforcement, appropriate discipline practices, and effective classroom management techniques.Model appropriate behaviors and communication to children, and other caregivers.Provide for the basic needs of the children based on age and individual needs.Assist in the development and implementation of written plans that provide for both indoor and outdoor activities on a weekly basis.Complete necessary classroom paperwork and daily record keeping assignments.Complete all necessary observations and assessments for individual children.Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and age-appropriate classroom environment.Complete requests for cleaning and art supplies as needed to maintain sufficient classroom supplies.Communicate effectively and respectfully with parents both verbally and in writing as needed.Assist in organizing and attending parent conferences and family events.Assist in planning and implementing all VCDC special events.Acquire knowledge of current Keystone Star requirements and complete assignments related to the requirements.Attend staff meetings and participate in-service trainings as instructed by the Director.Occasionally travel to work at other VCDC locations.Engage in professional development activities including but not limited to community events, workshops, completing online or mail-based courses, and exploring current child care literature.Supervise all classroom staff and volunteers.Complete classroom staff performance evaluations at the completion of the probationary period and annually thereafter.Prepare meals provided by parents and supplement with center food supplies, as needed, in order to offer meals that are satisfying and meet daily nutritional requirements.Assume other duties as assigned by the Director.Support the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and Compliance Program by timely reporting any actual or suspected compliance, fraud and abuse, ethics or policy violations.Vincentian is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
