POSITION SUMMARY:Under the direction of the Administrator-Long Term Care or VP LTC, and in accordance with established policies and procedures and federal guidelines, provides supervision to employees /volunteers assigned to the Activities/SPEC NEEDS - NEURO BEHAV departments develops and implements group and individual activity programs.QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION:Minimum:High school diploma.with 2 years experience in age appropriate social or recreational programs within the last 5 years, 1 of which was full-time in a patient/resident activities program in a health care setting or is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant.Preferred: Is a qualified theraputic recreation specialist who is eligible for certification as a theraputic recreation specialist by a recognized accrediting body on or after 8/1/89LICENSE:Minimum: Recreational Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Occupational Therapy Assistant.PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:Minimum: BLS certification required through the RQI system during clinical orientationWORK EXPERIENCE:Minimum: Minimum of two (2) years full time paid experience acceptable to developing activities programs in a health care setting.Preferred: see aboveSKILLS:Minimum: Requires a sensitive and reassuring approach to residents/patients.Demonstrated leadership abilities.Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.Computer literacy required with word processing, spreadsheets, power pointPreferred: Experience with Microsoft Office products including word, excel and power point.
