Diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to the mission of the College of Education. This Postdoctoral Scholar position emerges as part of our strategic plan to address inequities in education and enhance the diversity and inclusion dimensions of its curriculum and educational practices across all departments. One of our priorities is to work towards improving the racial literacy and equity-minded competencies of faculty, staff, and students. We seek candidates that can provide the highest level of excellence in the development and implementation of innovative DEI professional development programs. The Postdoctoral Scholar will support administrative leaders and members of the College of Education faculty working groups in the development, implementation, and outcomes evaluation of equity-minded inquiry- and research-informed curricular change.Members of the faculty working groups will engage in efforts to become highly skilled teachers who create inclusive classrooms and learning environments in residential and web-mediated settings. The Postdoctoral Scholar will coordinate with faculty and administrative leaders to identify, gather, deploy, and evaluate pedagogical resources for equity-based instruction and professional development of faculty, staff, and students. The Postdoctoral Scholar will support faculty during curriculum revision and to examine the organizational learning and change process. This includes conducting literature reviews, identifying curricular and pedagogical resources, and evaluating existing models for organizational change towards racial equity. In addition, the position will oversee and coordinate the Academic Equity Program which provides focused academic support for historically underrepresented and underserved College of Education students. The Postdoctoral Scholar will devise instruments to monitor, evaluate, and improve the progress of programs' implementation and to gauge changes in beliefs, behaviors, practices, social interactions and learning outcomes.The successful applicant will have comprehensive experience and expertise in curriculum development and scholarship related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in educational contexts. Extensive experience teaching at all levels, developing equity/inclusive courses and curriculum, and in academic administration is essential and highly desirable. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding professional, interpersonal, and intercultural communication skills.The position will report to the Assistant Dean for Education and Social Equity. This position is funded for one year from the start date, with the possibility of renewal. Applicants must have their PhD or must have completed all requirements towards their PhD successfully before beginning this post-doctoral position. A complete application will include a cover letter, CV, documentation of research and teaching in equity pedagogy through a portfolio that includes a teaching philosophy, course syllabi (taught as primary instructor or as teaching assistant), and evidence of teaching effectiveness.
