Job Description

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, an Am Law 100 firm, has an immediate opening for a Word Processing Operator.

 

This position can be based in any of the following offices: Downtown Los Angeles, Washington DC, Chicago, Houston, Orange County, Century City, or Dallas. There is only one opening.

 

*This position has the potential for a remote work arrangement, depending on experience and qualifications.

 

Ideal candidate will possess excellent software troubleshooting skills, be very organized, detail- oriented, can handle fast changing priorities, and communicate effectively and professionally with attorneys, staff and other word processing operators regarding workflow and other issues.

 

This is a regular full-time position.


  • Respond to attorneys and staff in a professional, friendly and timely manner.
  • Project a positive, can-do attitude, show sincere concern and provide support making the attorneys and staff the priority.
  • Multi-task in a sometimes fast-paced environment.
  • This person must be able to handle multiple priorities and changing demands in a busy department.

 

Essential Functions of Job:
Possess excellent software troubleshooting skills, be very organized, detail-oriented and able to communicate effectively and professionally with attorneys, staff and other word processing operators regarding workflow and other issues. Must be able to handle multiple priorities and changing demands in a busy department and be responsive to attorneys and staff in a professional, friendly and timely manner.


Required Qualifications: Qualified applicants must have at least 3 to 5 years of legal word processing experience in a law firm. Strong Proofreading skills required.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a word processing center is a plus.

 

Education
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree

 

Computer/Software Knowledge
Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is required. A working knowledge of Acrobat, OmniPage, NetDocs, Change-Pro, DocXTools, transcription (tape and digital) and Best Authority is a must. DocuSign experience. Experience with a document management system is also required.
Preferred: Experience with Chrome River and InTapp is a plus.

 

Work Environment
This position does require overtime and flexibility of hours.

 

Work Hours

Saturday-Wednesday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM (Pacific Time - including in Chicago, Texas, and Washington DC).
