Job Description
Set up and operate machine tools, fit and assemble parts to fabricate tools, mechanisms and machinesSetup and operate Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment to produce complex high precision shaped charge liners at the GD-OTS Rock Hill facility.Change cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in setup / process instructions.Select and install specified cutting tools in machine spindles / magazines.Maintain established rates of production. Perform variety of inspection and gaging operations to ensure compliance to requirements.Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process control or other control procedures for form, fit, and function of product. Familiar with tight geometric tolerances.Work from complex engineering diagrams and drawings and general manufacturing instructions and specific process sheets to setup and execute work assignments. Manage machine maintenance to ensure machine longevity and limited downtime. Clean machines, tooling, and parts. Perform operator specified maintenance duties, such as: check reservoir fluid levels, perform simple repairs, and assist in general repairs as requested. May install parts and materials such as sheet metal covering, hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, lubricants, and batteries into machines and mechanisms.Maintain work area in an organized and safe manner. Mandatory clean up at shift end and keeping their assigned work area clean and orderly.Monitors work area for environmental issues.Responsible for housekeeping and maintaining high housekeeping standards. Other duties as assigned.Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 5-7 years related experience and/or training in setup and operation of CNC lathes, multi-axis lathes, horizontal and vertical mills.; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CNC programming a plus. Past experience with Haas or Doosan equipment a plus.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
