    • Leads and coordinates events, conferences, and meeting arrangements including accommodations at the Biddle Hotel, venue setup, audio visual, and catering
    • Makes budgetary recommendations/proposals based on resource needs and ensures cost containment where possible.
    • Researches and stays up to date on new industry event standards, regulations, and specifications.
    • Works collaboratively with other IMU and IU departments to care for students and employees, maximize service and event satisfaction, and ensure profitability of the operating unit.

    Job Summary

    Department-Specific Responsibilities
    • Assists with the management, administration and/or production activities of an IU Dining Eatery, Campus Store, or one more IU Dining Campus Cafés.

Serves as shift manager in an IU Dining Eatery or Campus Store.
    • Responsibilities include planning, hiring and scheduling of student employees, assigning and monitoring work, approving time off, providing regular training, taking corrective action, addressing employee and/or customer complaints and grievances and recruiting, reviewing performance and promoting employee development and growth. Required to attend mandatory trainings. Assumes the role of the General Manager in their absence.
    Campus Café / C-stores
    • Under the guidance of an Area Manager, assumes management responsibility for one or more IU Dining Campus Cafés/Stores. Provides leadership, direction, and supervision to 10-40 staff members engaged in the preparation and delivery of food to the students, faculty, and staff of Indiana University Bloomington.
    • Responsibilities include purchasing and production, hiring and scheduling of student employees, assigning and monitoring work, approving time off, providing regular training, taking corrective action, and addressing employee and/or customer complaints and grievances. Required to attend mandatory trainings. Where applicable, assumes the role of the General Manager in their absence.
    Production
    • Orders food and supplies on a daily basis in conjunction with a sous chef for an IU Dining Eatery. Creates all orders in CBORD-FSS and/or direct orders to vendors. Responsible for accurate purchasing, being knowledgeable about receiving, communicates dates of delivery, and prints receiving worksheets.
    • Sends invoices to Central Purchasing and Logistics following the purchasing and receiving standards of IU Dining and RPS Financial Management.
    • Responsible for accurate forecasting, entering actuals, printing recipes and serving line worksheets.
    • Requisitions and maintains accurate inventories.
    • Works on projects in partnership with vendors and other administrative units on campus, including IU Dining Systems Support and IU Central Purchasing and Logistics. Required to attend mandatory trainings. Assumes the role of the General Manager in their absence.
    General Responsibilities
    • May be responsible for planning, hiring and scheduling of student employees, assigning and monitoring work, approving time off, providing regular training, taking corrective action, addressing employee and/or customer complaints and grievances and recruiting, reviewing and promoting employee development and growth.
    • Explains and demonstrates methods and procedures for performing tasks to the dining facility employees, including food handling and sanitation techniques.
    • Monitors work performance for quality, accuracy, and completeness to ensure compliance with departmental standards.
    • Monitors and supports the food operation's process measures and is accountable for the results of these measures. Reviews production worksheet and organize tasks to shift staff. Places orders for food needed to meet worksheet production needs. Records usage of food and leftover quantities and stores food.
    • Monitors, directs, and assists staff and student employees in preparation, proper serving sizes, proper food temperature, order taking, and delivery of food products in the proper media, and delivered in a timely manner. Ensures customer service standards are demonstrated on the job.
    • Monitors on-hand inventory and determines quantity of food to order. Completes orders for inventory.
    • Responds to and resolves customer' complaints and concerns to maintain positive relations with customers.
    • Maintains food safety, training, and food logs. May have cash management responsibilities for retail food sales.
    • May work from recipes and instructions to prepare and cook food; may calculate, weigh, and measure ingredient quantities; may wash, peel, cut, slice, trim, or blend various items for cooking and serving.
    • May perform tasks specific to bartending, catering, or dining room services.

      Job Summary

      The Admissions Manager role is an integral position within the O'Neill Master's Programs Office (MPO). The MPO serves all students enrolled in a master's degree or graduate certificate program in the O'Neill School and all prospective students who are interested in pursuing a master's degree or graduate certificate program in the O'Neill School. The MPO is home to all administrative functions that relate to master's student enrollment management and current student services including but not limited to recruitment, admissions, financial aid, advising, engagement, and records.

      Department-Specific Responsibilities
      • Supports the O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs - Bloomington admissions operations by managing approximately 500-600 applications annually received for O'Neill School graduate degree and certificate programs. This position holds a high level of autonomy as it requires responsibility and accountability for admissions processing and management.
      • Directly interacts with prospective students and applicants and therefore has a direct hand in supporting the MPO's recruitment operations.
      • Timely processing of applications for admission to O'Neill School graduate and certificate degree programs.
      • Responsible for the intricate international admissions process and follow-up, including pre-admission interviews.
      • Recording applicant details into WebAdMIT application processing platform.
      • Ensuring applications have all required components and are accurately tracked and recorded.

      Department Information

      The Department of Anthropology at Indiana University is a part of the College of Arts and Sciences (the College) and is one of the largest Anthropology departments in the country. As such, our program engages the breadth of the discipline. We look to the human future with an understanding of the complexities of our heritage, the biology, knowledge, rights and artifacts that represent both continuity and transformation in the human condition. Our concern with heritage integrates the traditional subfields of anthropology in which we do research: archaeology, bioanthropology, linguistic anthropology, and social-cultural anthropology. We work at sites throughout the world, in diverse ecological systems and time frames, providing a wealth of educational opportunities for all our students.

      We offer undergraduate and graduate training that prepares students to meet the challenges of our changing world. We encourage critical thinking, effective writing, and development of practical skills that fit individual interests.       Job Summary

      Department-Specific Responsibilities
      • Manages all departmental administrative functions and services. This includes budgetary, administrative, personnel, and enrollment affairs of the Department of Anthropology and CASEL (Center for the Analysis of Socio-ecological Landscapes).
      • Operates as Fiscal Officer Delegate. Conducts the general business operations of the Department of Anthropology appropriately, efficiently, in collaboration with the College Finance Office and in compliance with IU policies and procedures.
      • Establishes, interprets and modifies departmental management policies and operating practices.
      • Assists in long-range planning.
      • Serves as grant consultant.
      • Prepares departmental reports.
      • Assists in facilities oversight and IT planning.
      • Serves as administrative representative on various departmental committees.
      • May serve as building Representative.
      • Supervises academic support staff.
      • Serves as human resources coordinator for the department.
      • Assists the chair in faculty searches, using the eDoc-lite and the PeopleAdmin faculty applicant tracking system.
      • Serves as a resource person for postdoc and research scientist searches.
      • Ensures that instructional effort reporting for the department is correct.
      • Identifies, resolves, or escalates operational problems and minimizes delays.
      • Collaborates with team members to develop program objectives and create policies to meet them.
      • Coordinates program operation with all collaborative units.
      General Responsibilities

      • Monitors progress and maintains all necessary data bases.
      • Actively recruits program participants and researches new venues and methods of recruitment.
      • May provide guidance to support and temporary staff and coordinates workflow for the program.
      • Researches available grants and assists creating funding proposals that further advance support of the program. Writes grant reports.
      • Administers program budgets.

      Qualifications

      EDUCATION

      Working Conditions / Demands

      This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
